• Set paragraph styles for body and headings.
• Embedded fonts could cause submission rejection.

General Graphics Tips:

• Place, then cut, then paste graphics at beginning of text where you want to anchor the graphic.
• Graphics ordered from left-to-right and down.

 The Sigil WYSIWYG ePub editor is a free software and download for Mac, Windows, and Linux. Every author or publisher should use Sigil to finish the book submission in the ePub format.

Sigil is a true .epub editor in that you are seeing the .epub structure as you work with the document. That's unique!

I would compare the look and feel of Sigil to the advanced and split window coding approach that programs like DreamWeaver use for developing web sites.

Kindle does not use the epub format, BUT it is such a large market opportunity that it should get some writers and publishers attention. 

EPub format is a container or packaged format like a '.zip' file that holds file elements in organized folders making up a document intended to be read via an ereader such as the iPad.

One would think that the dawn of a powerful format such as ePub would be ushered in with an easier composition document-to-ereader format workflow, BUT alias things are quite shy of a straightforward process.
